CHATA Biosystems Discovers Two New Disinfectants

June 4, 2009, Ft. Collins, Colorado

CHATA Biosystems, Inc. has discovered two new exciting disinfectants which are effective against difficult to kill pathogens.  Both are broad spectrum and are effective against MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) and one also kills spores including Clostridium Difficile (commonly called C. difficile).  Both actives are considered as “green” for environmental and human safety.  Chata believes these products will be game changers for the disinfectant industry due to efficacy, broad spectrum control, broad application potential, and safety to humans, animals and the environment.

The US disinfectant and antimicrobial chemical market is estimated to be over one billion dollars per year and has been growing at approximately five percent per year on concerns about bacterial and pathogenic threats.

Continued growth in this industry is driven by consumer concerns about food borne pathogens such as E. coli and Salmonella and the very difficult to control pathogens found in hospitals, clinics, gymnasiums, schools, etc. such as MRSA and C. difficile.

Infections from these microorganisms have been increasing dramatically over the past few years according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and are being found in new areas that now make them a serious public health concern.  Consumers and manufacturers continue to favor effective, yet environmentally friendly products.  Chata’s new active ingredients offer both attributes and are believed to be unique in the industry.

CHATA management believes that sales potential of these products could exceed $100 million.

If you would like additional information regarding these two products and/or would like to participate in their continued development, please contact Mr. Ted Ziemann, Chairman and CEO of CHATA, or Dr. Ed Neas, Senior Vice President of R&D and Quality.
